About Baba Farid University

Baba Farid university (BFU) is one among the largest health science universities in north India. It was established in the memory of the Sufi saint named Baba Farid. This university was recognized in the time of 1998 through a law of state legislature of Punjab in order to develop quality health professionals from this part of the country. Baba Farid University is dedicated to providing community based training programmes and education to the fitness professionals all over the world. The mission of this university is to create professionals in the field of medical science by conducting flow of ideas between this university and universities of the west, health science universities located in India, and other institutions from India and abroad.

The main campus of Baba Farid University is located at Faridkot, Punjab. This university has more than 130 colleges under it. Among these there are 8 medical colleges, 12 ayurvedic colleges, 11 physiotherapy institutions, 14 dental colleges, 4 homeopathic, 5 medical laboratory technology, 78 nursing institutions, 4 medical laboratory technology and 1 sport medicine. All these institutions excel in the art of providing excellent medical education to the budding health science students.

The courses offered by Baba Farid University are MBBS, MD/MS/ PG Diploma/ BSC Nursing/BDS/ MSc. Nursing/BDS. All these courses are recognized by the government of India. Keeping in view the courses there are six faculties of this university. They are the staff of medical sciences, staff of dental sciences, staff of nursing sciences, faculty of physiotherapy, faculty of Ayurveda, and faculty of homeopathy. The diploma and degree courses are recognized by the Punjab’s governor.

Baba Farid University is regarded as the fifth largest health science university in India. With availability of all the appropriate modes of education this university is considered as the trend setter for creating world class professionals in this field. All the colleges affiliated to this university are well equipped with modern labs, books, and journals. There is a huge network of the university library. It has separate health science library and information system which is associated with the health science library network or (HSLIBNET). Baba Farid university also have its own placement cell. This is for the upcoming health professionals and the cell comprise of the chairman and the principal Dr. P.S Sandhu and other members of the team.

The admission procedure of Baba Farid University is just like other government universities. The seats available for the courses differ from college to college. For seeking admission one should score good marks in 10th, 12th examinations. Certain courses are opened only for the residents of Punjab. Moreover special preference is given to meritorious students and for ones passed out 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology as their subjects. With this counseling is also provided to the students by Baba Farid University. One shall not worry about the fee structure as it is very reasonable in this field. Baba Farid University is a government university and thus the fee structure is constructed accordingly. Students should score good to be a part of this university.
